In recent years, we’ve seen QR codes popping up everywhere, from billboards to magazine ads. The main reason for this is the ease and simplicity of use that comes with a QR code.īusinesses have been using QR codes for years to engage with customers and make it easier for them to access information about products and services. With the rise of mobile phone use and as an aftereffect of a global pandemic, the use of QR codes has exploded in popularity. When you scan a QR code with your smartphone, the QR code app will decode the data and take you to the linked website, display the contact information, or let you make payments. QR codes work by encoding data in a machine-readable format. QR codes are commonly used to share links to websites, contact information, or make payments. 92% of CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) brands use QR codes on product packaging.Ī QR code is a two-dimensional code that can be read by smartphones and other devices with a camera. The highest share of marketing-related QR code usage is in the age group 18 to 29.Over 8 out of 10 respondents to a Statista survey had used QR code as a payment method in 2021.The number of smartphones scanning QR codes in the US will rise to 99.6 million by 2025.The year-on-year growth of QR Code scans stands at an impressive 57%. According to Uniqode’s recent QR Code Trends Report, in 2021, QR Code scans reached 30 million scans recorded across 50 countries with the highest scan rate. Class diagramīecause a lot of software is based on object-oriented programming, where developers define types of functions that can be used, class diagrams are the most commonly used type of UML diagram. in the system and the relationships between those elements. Structural UML diagrams, as the name would suggest, show how the system is structured, including the classes, objects, packages, components, etc. To the uninitiated, it may seem as though there is an infinite number of UML diagrams, but in actuality, UML standards identify 13 types of diagrams that are divided into two groups, defined below. Lucidchart can generate UML sequence diagrams from text markup, which makes diagramming automatic and elastic. Lucidchart, a cloud-based diagramming solution, makes this process easier. However, diagrams that don’t evolve with a project are useless, so it’s necessary to have constantly evolving diagrams. Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences more easily.Plan out new features before any programming takes place.Bring new team members or developers switching teams up to speed quickly.Instead of thinking them as just a “nice to have,” treat your UML diagrams as core aspects of documentation. Though many engineers dread diagrams, they’re useful in an Agile development environment: they keep development productive and focused. UML is a standardized modeling language that can be used across different programming languages and development processes, so the majority of software developers will understand it and be able to apply it to their work. UML diagrams divide that software system into components and subcomponents. When you’re writing code, there are thousands of lines in an application, and it’s difficult to keep track of the relationships and hierarchies within a software system. UML, which stands for Unified Modeling Language, is a way to visually represent the architecture, design, and implementation of complex software systems. While Lucidchart is an essential UML diagram tool, this article will introduce (or give you a refresher) on the different UML diagram types, as well as provide use case template examples that you can use in Lucidchart. However, visual documentation can help engineers in the form of UML diagrams in a number of ways, from onboarding new employees to giving stakeholders a quick overview of the system so developers don’t waste time in meetings. But how much have you used them after that point? Because UML diagrams take some time to build and become out of date fairly quickly in an Agile environment, many software developers have forgotten about them. The next few examples are going to show how to use this pattern for user input, like buttons and text fields. If you’ve had any sort of formal code training, you were probably introduced to UML diagrams in school. These three concepts are the core of The Elm Architecture.
Their goal was to unify their work into a single standard and publish it as the Unified Modeling Language (UML). Each had already made significant contributions to the software industry with their own diagramming techniques. In 1996, Rational Software developed the early version of UML under the authorship of Grady Booch, Ivar Jacobson, and James Rumbaugh. Of course, this assumes all parties follow the same diagramming standard. In the same manner, applying a standard to diagramming software would make it possible for any developer in any company to work on any system designed by any architect. The motivation behind creating UML was to mirror the way structural architects use the same methods to draw building blueprints, making it possible for any construction company to put up a high-rise building designed by any architect. Thus came the impetus to create a standard diagramming format. This "getting up to speed" labor can incur significant overhead. An architect changing jobs to a new company had to take the time to learn how the new company's diagrams worked and what they represented. The variety of diagramming styles affected productivity and increased the cost of doing business. It seemed as if every company had its own way of diagramming systems. Some significant enterprise architects and application developers created UML because they got tired of the plethora of roll-your-own diagramming styles prevalent in the industry. However, to get the full benefit from the parts that detail the different diagrams, it's helpful to have a general understanding of application programming and some knowledge of classes, interfaces, and objects. These articles are for a general technical audience. In two companion articles, I offer a more detailed description of UML's particulars, including examples of the various diagram types it supports. This article provides a brief overview of UML's origins. UML provides a standard to describe software systems in a very detailed manner graphically. UML is not getting much attention these days on the front pages of popular technical sites. Take a Linux infrastructure planning assessment. An architect's guide to multicloud infrastructure. It enhances the stability of the entire structure. The in-house aluminum planks for sale are versatile and require minimal additional scaffold material for support. They are the safest means of support for the scaffold users, as well as having a long life that saves additional costs.ĪAIT is a leading scaffold product distributor in the USA. Final WordsĪluminum scaffolding planks are stable, secure, light in weight, durable, cost-effective, and low-maintenance scaffolding solutions. This makes aluminum planks safer and an ideal choice for structural integrity. They are anti-rust, and invulnerable to wrapping and cracking. This is not the case with aluminum boards. This will make the boards unstable and susceptible to rupture. Wooden boards, when exposed to climatic conditions, undergo decay and, in extreme cases, may cause premature decay. The best alternative is aluminum scaffolding planks, which are durable and require fewer accessories for set up. This will increase the cost of building scaffolds. Steel and wooden boards require more components to maintain stability. The boards need different components for fixtures. Aluminum does not contain steel or iron, which prevents the boards from turning corrosive.Īluminum planks do not disfigure or oxidize with time, which is the usual case with wood and steel scaffolding planks for sale. While steel requires regular repainting to keep it from rusting and eroding, wood tends to deform and deteriorate with time. Low maintenanceĬompared to other scaffolding plank alternatives, aluminum frames are usually maintenance-free. In cases where scaffold users need to dismantle the platform every now and then to complete minor scaffold chores, aluminum planks are best suited. Aluminum planks provide easy set-up as compared to heavy wooden boards, which require a lot of manpower. This also makes transportation and storage easy. Being light in weight, one can easily assemble, disassemble, and carry the boards from one site to another. Light in weightĪluminum is lighter in weight than wooden boards. This decreases the load-bearing capacity of the plank and compromises the aspects of work on-site. Wooden planks, on the other hand, are fibrous and may easily cave in. These planks are set up with strengthened joints, allowing the entire scaffold structure to bear more weight than what is usually required. Regardless of the height and weight being placed on aluminum planks, they offer greater dependability. Due to the structural build-up of aluminum planks, they offer greater stability than wood planks. This is an important criterion when selecting scaffolding planks. Let’s check out the features of wood and aluminum scaffold planks. Aluminum scaffold planks are light in weight and enhance the stability of the scaffold. Today, aluminum has been the material of choice for most construction projects as it comes with additional advantages over traditional wood and other alternatives. Scaffold planks are temporary structures used to provide support and a stable work platform for scaffold users. The best alternative to this is the use of steel and aluminum scaffold planks. Wood has been a popular building material for its strength and requires frequent maintenance. This is to enhance flexibility that reduces resistance to stress.īoards in the scaffold system provide a working surface for scaffold users. Today, the scaffolding is made from low-alloy aluminum and steel. In antiquity, the scaffolding was made of wood and secured with rope knots. The use of scaffolding started over 17,000 years ago. Jean Herlihy, our Animation Director, and Declan Doyle, Lead Animator, worked very closely with our team of animators in Crest to make sure that Kwazii and Dashi are in character, and that the Siphonophore polyps portray the right level of comically menacing, without being too scary for our audience. As usual, NCircle Entertainment has a great new line up with their May releases. Here’s final animation, where the animated performances of the characters are working with the voices to the point we’re happy with them. Rob Rackstraw and Teresa Gallagher are the voices behind Kwazii and Dashi here Kwazii reacts to being captured with a bit of swashbuckle Dashi is a cooler customer, a little more level-headed than Kwazii in a crisis. The lead three voices of the Siphophore were performed by Simon Greenall, Paul Panting, and Keith Wickham, who also perform the voices of Captain Barnacles, Peso and Shellington. The Octonauts’ voice actors are a talented group of performers who not only provide the Octonaut crew’s vocal performances, but give us a wide range of voices for our episodic creatures under the guidance of Voice Director, Dave Peacock. Here’s some of the images Ryan found, and some initial sketches: The design of each of creatures started with our 2D designer, Ryan Adams, researching what the real creatures look like, and reading over the script to get a sense of the personality the writing team have given them. Once the script is at a place where we’re all happy with it, the design process can begin. If they go above a certain point, the siphonphore will burst, so it’s up to the Octonauts to work together to save the day. The Octonauts story process involves the writers thinking of a creature they’d like to write about. Raye Lankford, who wrote this episode, came to the original writer’s kick-off meeting with the idea of a story about the siphonophore, in which Kwazii and Dashi go on a mission together to photograph it. Surely some of the most fascinating of the season were the colony of critters known as the Giant Siphonophore. Each Octonauts episode sees the crew meet a fascinating undersea creature. Now that you’ve defined the key areas to look into, let’s go through each one to determine all the individual influences that can affect our output. The Fishbone diagram – decide on the key areas Step 3 – Determine the actual causes of the problem But to keep things simple, we recommend limiting yourself to no more than 10 - especially since we’re only learning how to make a fishbone diagram with this example. You can have as many areas as you need to. For example, If you think marketing impacted your retention figures, you could add that as a fourth area. But you can always add more categories if needed. Once you start considering potential causes, you might find that most of them fall within one of these three categories. Going back to our example of investigating a high churn rate, here are three areas worth looking into: Next, decide what areas of the problem are key to determining the actual cause. Step 2 – Decide on key categories of causes Place the causes with the biggest impact closer to the fish head and the causes with the smaller impact further away. The idea is that the “fish bones” indicate the impact of the causes. Place the problem (the fish head) on one side of the diagram, and build the rest of the diagram (the fish bones) out to its left or right.Your goals should be objective and achievable. If you’re using the fishbone diagram to design a process or increase productivity, it’s just as important to correctly define your output. The Fishbone diagram – define the problem Problem definition tips: keeping a constant velocity, is something the joystick is very good at. its more natural to use a mouse as that somehow resembles pointing, something we are naturally very good at. you have a set maximum velocity, which makes it impossible to aquire targets as quickly as on a pc, and you also have problems fine tuning the lower velocities due to acceleration etc. the problem with a controller is adjusting the movement speed of your aim. Recoil compensation is actually one thing the controller does better than the mouse. sure, its no impossible feat, but it is more difficult than pulling back on the stick. You also have the fact that the movement requires you to activate different muscles to different degrees through your motion while keeping the end velocity constant. keeping the constant speed is a far more complex task. its balancing around a static point, vs balancing your speed relative to some other speed. a mouse on the otherhand requires you to move at a constant rate to acheive the same. a joystick is extremely good at maintaining a constant speed, as it only requires you to keep it in a static position. when youre compensating recoil with a controller all you have to do is pull the stick back until its compensated for, and keep it there. i might have exaggerated abit there, but it is easier.
